Scam call to say I had £840 taken from my Halifax account.
They rang off when I challenged the person saying the bank would not have phoned but would have texted with a call back number.
Caller claimed to be from John Lewis Credit Card regarding misuse of my card. This number is different from the actual JL number by one number, so at first glance looks like the number on the back of the credit card.
Scam. This number claims to be from Halifax/Bank of Scotland/Lloyds fraud department, may have convincing details, all geared towards getting you to transfer money to new, "safe" accounts that they've just set up for you. Do NOT do this. Your bank will NEVER ask you to move money. This is fraud. Dial your actual bank on the correct number, look it up or check the back of your card, from a different phone and report the call.
An Indian gentleman telling me that a credit card had been used on Amazon to buy over £1000 worth of goods, but that they suspected fraud. But if the number has no relationship to Amazon it is obviously a scam and very unlikely to be an Amazon security department number then!
Got a pop up from Tesco Bank trying to make a payment on IKEA website. I did ring the number but it didn't seem like Tesco so when they asked for my full date of birth it rang alarm bells and I called the number on my card and they said it must be a scam.
Told me there was an unknown payment trying to come out of my bank account. It was going to be frozen but I needed to get a new sort code and account number. Asked me to make a new payee transfer and transfer money over to have a safer account. I did not send anything or do anything about it, I let him go on . When I said I dont have money in my account he hung up. Really well spoken and everything, it's actually scary
This number, along with 0345 835 3843 was displayed in a phishing email that I supposedly received from TSB bank - I haven't (nor would I call these numbers).
What a wild, long-ass scam... So basically, last week Friday, my stepdad got a text msg saying he had a £270 tax refund from HMRC, where he clicked the link and put in all his personal & bank details (argh!!). Then yesterday, he received a call from this number (03457404403) stating that they were from HSBC, and have called to inform him that his online banking had been compromised and that they would need his account's activation code in order to close it! Shortly after, he received multiple OTP alerts on his phone, all trying to purchase things online from £699 Currys, to £1100 elsewhere (twice) and a couple of Dominos Pizza £21 orders, all which were rejected luckily (thanks to the OTP security). Then final attempt of this scam, this morning they sent money from his overdraft to me in 5 increments, totalling to £4800, and around £400 to somebody else. Then they called him back again to inform him of this and put me on the phone to try and send this fraudulent £4800 to their "private investigator" account, which would need to be done in order for a "legal mandate" to take place. As he kept me on the phone explaining this, he said he was also waiting for this investigator's account to be "generated". Really, who "generates" banks accounts, and why can't I just send the money back to my stepdad, instead of sending it to an investigator's account?? Sounded very fishy to me. I asked why the phone number came up on my stepdad's phone as 'Potential Fraud', and he said this is incorrect and they are from HSBC, it's just because the number is similar to the actual HSBC fraud number (which has one digit difference at the end). The man on the phone tried to sound urgent but was obviously exasperated from re-reading this same script a hundred times. I asked if I can hang up to discuss this with my stepdad and I'll call them back directly, but he said this would not be possible, with no real explanation. He also made a point that they have not asked for any personal details, thus this is not a scam (but of course, they already had all the details they needed from the Tax Refund text msg). After deflecting all my questions, I hung up. They tried to call back so I blocked them. Then cal
Said calling from SSE, Said an engineer would call and update my energy meters. Asked my address, refused to give it and rang off. Obviously a scammer.
Automated call supposedly from amazon stating that a sum of money would be taken from our bank account to pay for our amazon prime account. We do not have an account of any sort with amazon so didn't press 1 as requested.
Automated call saying my credit card had been used 15 minutes earlier to make a transaction of £600 to a foreign country, and to press 1 to authorise or stop the transaction.
After ordering something from Easy Life two days later we had a phone call from this number trying to sell us some sort of insurance for our car.We told them we were not interested and wanted nothink from them. They have now taken over £60 from our credit card wich
27/10/2020we may not get back. They are SCAMMERS
Call today claiming to be Barclays fraud department, very convincing and knew my account number and even my memorable word saying my account had been compromised in Liverpool and would need to be suspended, I asked for them to tell me my last five transactions which they couldn't do. Phoned Barclays afterwards to report and yes definitely a scam call.
Warning, hazardous phone call alert. Phone rings. I pick up. Total silence on the other end, very weird. Oh, and also, no voicemail left, which is a big red flag. A normal UK company or person usually leaves a voicemail, but not this number. Watch out, if they call don't hand them over any card details, even if they pretend to be a company you know.
